What Is Open Source???

Software is actually nothing but an endless series of 0s and 1s. It is written in one of many programing languages and then run through a complier that changes it to the 0s and 1s. This makes it possible for retail giants like Microsoft to keep their code secret and charge high prices for their products.

If someone improves the code they can submit their new code to the project. As a result some of the best software may have had hundreds of the worlds best programers helping to write it.
